Sikkim itineraries: 3, 5 and 7 day plans
Day-by-day routes written by locals — realistic drive times, where to stay, and the permits each trip needs.
2 nights / 3 days
Sikkim in 3 days: Gangtok, Tsomgo Lake and Nathula
Short on time? Base yourself in Gangtok and add a day trip to the high-altitude lakes of East Sikkim. This plan works year-round, although snow can close the Tsomgo–Nathula road on some winter days.
4 nights / 5 days
Sikkim in 5 days: Gangtok, Lachung and Yumthang Valley
The classic first trip: Gangtok, a night in Lachung for the rhododendron-filled Yumthang Valley, and a day at Tsomgo Lake. North Sikkim roads close after heavy rain or snow, so check the live road status before you book.
6 nights / 7 days
Sikkim in 7 days: Gurudongmar, Lachung, Tsomgo and Pelling
A week covers the best of North, East and West Sikkim: sacred Gurudongmar Lake at over 17,000 ft, Yumthang Valley, Tsomgo Lake and the Kanchenjunga views of Pelling. It is a lot of driving, so pace it with a buffer day if you can.
2 nights / 3 days
Old Silk Route in 3 days: Zuluk, Nathang Valley and Kupup
The Old Silk Route through East Sikkim is famous for the zig-zag road above Zuluk and sunrise over Kanchenjunga from Thambi View Point. Homestays are simple and the air is thin — this is an adventure trip more than a comfort trip.
