About Dzongri - Goechala
The Dzongri Trek is a breathtaking high-altitude adventure nestled within Sikkim’s Khangchendzonga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Covering 30–40 km and reaching elevations of 4,020 meters (13,190 feet), the trek offers awe-inspiring views of iconic Himalayan peaks such as Mount Kanchenjunga, Mount Pandim, and Mount Kabru.
Starting from Yuksom, the trek unfolds over 6 to 7 days, guiding adventurers through dense forests, vibrant alpine meadows, and rugged rocky paths. Key stops include Sachen, Tshoka, and Dzongri, where trekkers are rewarded with panoramic 360-degree vistas of snow-capped mountains. Along the way, the trail passes through rich biodiversity zones, providing chances to spot elusive wildlife like red pandas, Himalayan tahr, and blue sheep.
Best experienced in spring (April–May), when rhododendrons bloom, or in winter (October–February), when snow blankets the landscape and skies are clear, the trek demands stamina as temperatures can fall to -10°C in colder months. Ideal for seasoned trekkers, Dzongri Trek combines challenging terrain with stunning natural beauty, making it a must for adventure seekers exploring Sikkim’s majestic Himalayas.
